The New New Doctor (spoilers?)Okay, I'm a newbie to Dr Who and I'm slightly confused on a few things with the second season. I know that Dr. Who is known for going through Doctors than Spinal Tap has drummers, but how'd they explain the new doctor's appearance from season 1 to season 2? I haven't seen the second half of season 1 yet, but I did see the season two opener. They brought up the "new new doctor" 's look a few times, but there wasn't much of an explanation. Did I miss something in the season 1 finale? Or is this just a wry joke about how the original series switched actors so fluidly?

Re:The New New Doctor (spoilers?)
A Time Lord regenerates (new body and new persona) at the threshhold of death.
You missed it, at the Eccleston as the Doctor finale (Doctor series 9), he "got a bad case of time" and so was forced to regenerate... So along came the 'tenth' Doctor by way of Tennant.
The Doctor should have only a few regenerations left before he's really dead, but I expect they'll find a way to prolong the Doctor character for many more years to come... His arch-enemy the Master from older series/s had reached the end of his natural Time Lord regeneration cycle and managed to extend his life (the Doctor did not approve).
Incidentally, HERE is a fun Doctor Who spoof where you get to see the Doctor regenerate several times.
